Any plan, may it be by Dixon back in early 50s or options/avenues brought in limelight as a result of backdoor diplomacy or pressure techniques by USA and allies, they look like diplomatic gimmicks just to keep Kashmiris waiting/hoping that somethings in the offing.India always maintained its rigid position on Kashmir and preferred to linger on and on from Nehrus time, on one pretext or the other. India believes in its own decision making and seems in no hurry at all to submit and accept an outside verdict. Unless economically, geo- strategically or politically compelled to submit/surrender,status quo is most likely. I feel that USA and allies are at the back of so-called largest democracy/secular India. Pakistan is on a weaker wicket for obvious reasons. Only strength Pakistan has is that majority of Kashmiris on either side of LOC are dedicated to Pakistan and in case of plebiscite, they prefer to join Pakistan. Indigenous freedom struggle in IHK as in the past and future too will ultimately force India regionally/extra regionally to quit Kashmir.Being first party, pre dominant role (with new vigor/innovation) has to be played by Kashmiri leadership/experts. Pakistan alone will not be able to sustain multi-directional pressure from within/without. Worldwide media/diplomatic support coupled with all out freedom struggle seems crucial. It may be a far fetched idea but we Kashmiris will have to measure up to it and may not leave sensitive issue of our freedom solely at the discretion of others!?
