Tain-Dhalkot road is part of my strategic plan to have ( within our resource constrains) some of the major roads and bridges of AJK, projecting international standards .Tain - Dhalkot road, a shortest link between Bagh /Poonch and Rawalpindi enjoys special significance.Political elite from outside poonch division opposed such a big investment on this road but their notions were brushed aside.With formation width of more than 40 feet and black top almost 30 feet, this road would look great and people will forget current sufferings. Its initial cost was Rs 470 million, a reasonable proposition. When consultant was inducted by Govt of Pak, he enhanced its cost to more than Rs 800 millions which was objected by Planning Commission, a source of real problem.Project was being dropped but we prevailed. A revision was made and cost came down to Rs 680 million. The project finally stand approved . Delay is because of non provision of funds. I told Sardar Yaqub, President AK to persue this project, I am also following, we need to understand problem that such roads and ideas are rare so there are hurdles, push and pulls. I am sure soon funds will be released and work will restart. I personally feel sorry that transporters and passengers are equally suffering, I regret that despite best efforts i could not complete this project as we did Arja- Bagh etc.
